Metropolitan Building Approvals provides Occupation Certificate assessment and certification for completed residential, commercial, industrial and complex building projects across Sydney and NSW. Where we are acting as Principal Certifier and the applicable statutory requirements have been satisfied, our registered building certifiers can assess the completed work, required inspections and supporting documentation for the Occupation Certificate stage.
What is an Occupation Certificate?
An Occupation Certificate (OC) is the final certification step that allows a new building, or an approved part of a building, to be occupied or used once the applicable statutory requirements have been satisfied.
An OC may also be required where the approved use of an existing building changes.
Before an Occupation Certificate can be issued, the Principal Certifier must consider the required inspections, approved development, relevant conditions, certificates and completion documentation and be satisfied that the building or relevant part is suitable for occupation or use.
Final Inspection
The required final critical stage inspection is carried out after the building work is completed and before the Occupation Certificate is determined.
Completion Documentation
Relevant certificates, compliance records, approvals and other required completion documentation are reviewed as part of the assessment.
Occupation Certificate Determination
Where the applicable statutory requirements are satisfied, the Principal Certifier may issue the Occupation Certificate for the completed building or relevant part.
